The 2018 Ford GT will pay a tribute to the year that America kicked Ferrari’s ass in the ’67 24 Hours Le Mans race. Previously they paid homage to the late 60s wins with the black and silver heritage edition in 2017, but this year the race car will wear a special red, livery that will aim to look like the GT40 in the ’67 Le Mans. In ’67, Carroll Shelby and his drivers, A.J Foyt and Dan Gurney, made history when they won the 24 Hours Le Mans race against their long time Italian rivals.
The Ford GT Heritage was unveiled at the world famous 2017 Monterey Car Week, and it was absolutely stunning! With the glossy red paint, the white stripes and exposed carbon package, the car looks truly beautiful. The Carbon Fiber seats with red accent stitching and the grey paddle shifters also add to the beauty of the Ford GT Heritage. To top it off, the Ford GT has a 3.5-Liter Ecoboost engine that puts out a monstrous 647 Horsepower, allowing it to reach a top Speed of 216 MPH! The Ford GT has pure power and performance of a race car! We can only guess that there will be a 2019 Heritage edition honoring the ’68 Ford race car, which was the familiar blue and orange gulf colors. Now that one will break some necks!
